11 Easy Ways to Empower Yourself
Anyone can attain personal empowerment. It depends more on taking intelligent actions than on the size of your bank account or the title on your business card.
Do you want to be more successful and experience more control over your life? Learn more about the meaning of true empowerment and run down this list of 11 simple things you can start doing today to build your competence and confidence.
General Principles of Self-Empowerment:
Set realistic goals. Small victories provide motivation. Aim for targets that are within your reach. If losing 50 pounds seems overwhelming, start with one diet tweak at a time, like putting less sugar in your coffee. See yourself doing it and then celebrate that when you do it. And then see then the mini-goal .
Strengthen your skills. If you’re willing to keep learning, you can expand your potential. Read self-help books and take online courses on topics that stimulate you. Take some action on what you learn, talk with others about their areas of expertise and teach them what you know.
Manage your emotions. Going beyond your comfort zone can be scary, but as a high achiever, you will go beyond comfort regularly. Acknowledge your feelings while making hard decisions that serve your long-term interests. When your emotions are intense, you can manage them by using my favorite neuro-sensory technique called tapping, or you can think them through or talk with others who can help you sort things out.
Believe in yourself. Challenge the assumptions that have been holding you back. Think positive and focus on what you have to gain. Realize that you have what it takes to take that uncomfortable step and then repeatly imagine yourself doing it. You got this!
Gather support. Empowering yourself can be enhanced by your relationships with others. Surround yourself with family and friends who boost your self-esteem. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and ask for help when you need it. Don’t forget to give help and support too.
Simple Ways to Empower Yourself:
Respect your time. Treat your time like a precious resource. Clarify your three top priorities and devote your energy to them. Limit distractions that would pull you off track.
Protect your energy. Set healthy boundaries and be assertive about maintaining them. Give yourself permission to say no to requests or people that aren’t taking you someplace useful.
Meditate daily. Being calm, clear and centered makes it easier to empower yourself. Observe your thoughts through meditation and let them go. By regularly meditating you start to realize that you are bigger than what your thoughts and feelings would have you think and feel
Practice self-care. Honoring your fundamental needs is an important part of valuing yourself. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and aim for at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Now you are ready to rock it!
Use affirmations. Repeating positive statements to yourself can help you to overcome challenges and deal with stress. You will greatly increase their power if you tap along with them. You can google the type of affirmations you want online to get awesome affirmations or you can use your own wording. Make sure they are focused on what you want not away from what you don’t.
Check your posture. Body language has a major influence on how you feel and how others perceive you. Stand up straight and hold your head high. Work that power pose!
Personal empowerment means taking responsibility for your life so you can enjoy more happiness and success. Trust yourself and go for it with gusto – make those positive choices that bring you closer to achieving your big juicy goals.
